The Colony
its about a bunch of random people who are stuck on a 10 acre stretch of land somewhere in the Louisianian bayou in a post apocalyptic world with no electricity, running water, or access to communication. This is all brought on by some variant strain of the bird flu that went airborne and killed lots of people. They have to survive by protecting them selves from marauders and nomadic clans, as well is hunting and cooking their own food and finding innovative ways to maintain a sustainable way of living.
Great show, at times it seems a bit scripted but its not too much of a bother because some of the other things that go on are clearly real life reactions to certain situations. I do believe in some situations they received off camera help particularly the "mechanic" because they showed a reasonable amount of detail with regard to all the other projects with the exception of hers. She fiddled with some wires in a few scenes then next thing i know the engine was running.
i am amazed at what people can manage to come up with even with limited resources and under stressful circumstances. personally if im ever in that situation i don't think i would be of much use to anyone, i know how to budget money and play the piano...neither of which will be the slightest bit useful in that setting. at the risk of sounding like some cliche hallmark card when people come together they can accomplish almost anything. as destructive as we are as a whole when life is threatened we find a way to live, to become resilient and quick to adjust to changes.
i hated the last episode of season 2 however, cuz it just ended really cheaply i guess to serve as a twist...but it just came across as incomplete. i think i will reach back to purchase the first season and i think i may get an additional a copy for the prototype for pointing me in the direction of the mostly entertaining series.
